Red Robin executives and celebrity chef Robert Irvine chose Chef Brad Halsten of The Burger Dive located in Billings, MT as the recipient of Red Robin’s “Best of the Bash Award” at this year’s Amstel Light Burger Bash. The winning burger creation is a mouth-watering combination of blackened spice with bacon, beer battered onion ring, garlic basil mayo, goat cheese and arugula with Sriracha. As the winner of the Best of the Bash Award, Chef Halsten will receive $10,000, and in the future, his burger may appear on Red Robin’s premium burger menu.
The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Amstel Light Burger Bash – presented by Pat LaFrieda Meats and hosted by Rachael Ray – is America’s most prestigious burger competition, which gives the country’s top culinary maestros and chefs the opportunity to display their creations and battle it out for burger supremacy. As a Platinum level sponsor of the festival, Red Robin is a natural fit for deciding which burger will take home the top prize at the Burger Bash®.
For the second year in a row, Red Robin invited all participants to submit their recipe for a chance to win $10,000 and have their build featured on Red Robin’s Finest premium burger menu. A panel of carefully selected judges, including celebrity chef and Food Network personality Robert Irvine, along with Red Robin executives chose and presented the winning chef with “Red Robin’s Best of the Bash Award” on the Burger Bash® stage on Friday, Feb. 21.
Red Robin has also awarded Derrick Deal the opportunity of a lifetime. The senior at Florida International University’s (FIU) Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management was declared the winner of Red Robin’s Golden Robin Contest and will join Red Robin at the Festival to serve a taste of his Bubblin' Brown Sugar Bar-B-Que Tavern Burger to Festival attendees. His winning recipe earned him a $10,000 scholarship, compliments of Red Robin, and the chance for his gourmet burger to be featured as a limited-time menu offering at participating Red Robin restaurants nationwide later this year. The Bubblin' Brown Sugar Bar-B-Que Burger is a delicious take on a tavern-style cheeseburger with southern charm, featuring brown sugar bacon, grilled red onions, sharp Cheddar cheese and Heinz Honey Barbecue Sauce.

Three students from Florida International University’s (FIU) Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management have something special to add to their resumes: they were named finalists of Red Robin’s Savory Scholar Gourmet Dipping Sauce Contest. Dalton Draper, Ariel Miller, and Tirza Diaz De Villegas will travel to New York City to serve their gourmet dipping sauce with Red Robin’s signature Bottomless Steak Fries® alongside top chefs at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE on Friday, Oct. 18. Guests at the Festival’s Blue Moon Burger Bash presented by Pat LaFrieda Meats hosted by Rachael Ray will vote for their favorite sauce and the Savory Scholar winner will be revealed on stage by food and lifestyle expert and author Katie Lee.
The three featured gourmet dipping sauces will be served at the Blue Moon Burger Bash on Friday, Oct. 18. Event attendees will vote for their favorite sauce with the winning recipe earning a $5,000 scholarship for the student and the chance to have their dipping sauce served in Red Robin® restaurants nationwide next year.
